BATON ROUGE — Nine new police officers graduated from the Baton Rouge Police Department's 95th Basic Training Academy Graduation on Thursday morning. 

Seven of the officers were from the academy, and two were lateral trainees, meaning they came from other departments. The lateral trainees, BRPD officials said, had to train but did not have as long a training period as the new cadets. 

The ceremony was held at Istrouma Baptist Church, with East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sid Edwards attending.
