Current openings

Master Control Engineer
WBRZ is searching for a Master Control Engineer. This position is responsible for keeping the stations on the air. The equipment maintained, as well as troubleshooting any issues that mayoccur. This position will require some night, weekend, and holiday work.

You will be responsible for:

    • Making sure that the playlist is accurate
    • Making sure that automation and playout are functioning correctly
    • Troubleshooting any problems
    • Tending to our C-Band Satellite dishes
    • Coming up with new ways to improve productivity
    • Documenting workflows

Qualifications
Persons with Electrical Engineering or IT degrees are Preferred. Technical college degrees andexperience can be substituted. If you have trouble shooting skills, an excellent electronic or computer background, and are willing to learn apply now to be apart of the WBRZ Engineering team!

Assistant News Director
WBRZ is seeking an innovative, energetic newsroom leader to join the journalism team as Assistant News Director. This position mentors and coaches young journalists and works closely with MMJs and reporters on daily assignments and investigations. Previous experience as a reporter/MMJ or anchor is helpful. News Photographer

WBRZ has a full-time opening for a news photographer.  Previous experience using a commercial video camera is required.  An understanding of the news gathering process is essential.  This position is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their career or for an individual who is ready to take their first step as a professional photojournalist.  News photographers capture the first moments of a breaking news story, the emotional elements of a human interest story and the captivating video of an investigative report.  This position may be assigned weekends or evenings.  Send resume and cover letter to Jonathan Shelley; jshelley@wbrz.com.

Sports Anchor / Reporter
WBRZ is a great sports opportunity for the person looking to cover high level sports all year long. We're looking for a sports anchor/reporter who knows what they’re doing and wants to take their skills to the next level. Storytelling, presence, and technical skill are what we’re looking for as you help bring daily local broadcasts to a sports-savvy market.

You will develop, write, shoot, edit and deliver sports information on-air and online.

Show us your work that's interesting, educational, and maybe even a little odd. Anchoring experience in a TV newsroom is required. Baton Rouge is a sports town. Come be a part of it.

Weekday Morning Meteorologist
WBRZ is looking for a high energy weekday morning meteorologist committed to becoming a cornerstone of our growing weather team. This meteorologist will provide a compelling, lifestyle focused on-air presentation, accurate forecasts with modern messaging and have a digital first mentality. In this position, you will broadcast every weekday from 5am – 9am as well as 12 – 1pm and also be expected to create new content on every shift for wbrz.com, the WBRZ WX mobile app. and our social media platforms.

Additional job responsibilities include working with the chief meteorologist to organize public outreach campaigns, communicating with the news team about high impact weather events and maintaining weather department hardware and software. Come in ready to build relationships with local schools and event planners to promote community visibility for the station. Be willing to work varying hours as high impact weather necessitates. Be open to coaching. Knowledge of south Louisiana is a plus. If you embrace new technology, like to find unique ways to present the weather story, and want to work somewhere that emboldens you to try new things, we want to talk to you!

Applicant Requirements
-Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science
-1 to 3 years of on air experience as a Broadcast Meteorologist
-Be qualified for AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal or NWA Seal of Approval
-Familiarity with TWC Max platforms a plus

Internships
WBRZ offers internships each semester in the following departments: News, Marketing, Information Systems, Production, Graphics, Sports, and Weather. Interns will experience firsthand the daily operations of the department and will perform various duties as assigned. Student must be enrolled in a station approved college/university and be approved by the college dean/advisor/chair to take an internship course for curriculum credit and grade.
