ST. FRANCISVILLE — Cy D'Aquila, an attorney and former public defender, was elected as the 20th Judicial District Court's district attorney. 

He won 62% of the vote in the election, defeating Ken Fabre, according to complete but unofficial results.

D'Aquilla will occupy the seat that was up for grabs when former DA Sam D'Aquilla decided to run for judge. Sam D'Aquilla stepped down and Bruce Dodd has been the acting district attorney since Oct. 1. 

Cy D'Aquilla told WBRZ that his priorities include fostering closer communication between prosecutors and law enforcement during investigations, expanding youth outreach and offering reform options such as community service when appropriate.

The 20th JDC covers East and West Feliciana parishes.
