It’s a repeat forecast for the rest of the workweek: occasional morning fog, followed by mainly sunny, hot afternoons. A pleasant change arrives just in time for the weekend, however, courtesy of a cold front.

Tonight & Tomorrow: Mainly clear skies will remain in place throughout the evening and much of the overnight hours. Tuesday morning was a clear sign that fog season is getting underway. With clear skies and light winds continuing into Wednesday morning, another round of patchy, possibly dense, fog remains possible. Consider allowing extra drive time during the morning commute, especially if traveling near bodies of water or low-lying areas north of I-10/12. Morning lows will settle in the mid-60s.

Early fog or not, sunshine will take over by the afternoon. This will push highs into the low 90s once again, which runs about 10° above average for mid-October. Humidity will be held in check, and rain will escape the area.

Up Next: Patchy morning fog followed by mainly sunny, hot, and dry conditions will persist through Friday. However, a much more welcome change arrives just in time for the weekend as a cold front slips through the region late Friday. It will be a dry front, bringing little to no rain as it arrives, but a noticeable change in feel will follow in its wake. Highs will drop into the upper 70s and lower 80s on Saturday — ideal for a Saturday morning kickoff in Death Valley. Expect a breezy Saturday as well, which could elevate fire danger as much drier air filters into the region. Sunday morning lows drop into the mid-50s before the cooldown relaxes and temperatures head back up by early next week.
