BATON ROUGE — A man who was wanted by officers following the beating death of his 92-year-old father who had a protective order against him was detained at the end of a police chase Tuesday, sources told the WBRZ Investigative Unit.

Larry Salisbury, 92, was found beaten to death inside a home along Archery Drive on Monday night, Baton Rouge Police say. His injuries were consistent with blunt-force trauma.

Salisbury's son, Bruce, was detained in connection with the beating following a pursuit that ended around Greenwell Springs Road and Airline Highway on Tuesday morning.

Footage from the scene showed Bruce Salisbury's car flipped onto its side along the road. Sources say he was taken to a hospital following the crash.

Court documents show that Larry Salisbury had a protective order in place against his son following a July beating that police said left the man with two black eyes and dried blood in his ears.

He was arrested for domestic abuse battery and pleaded guilty to the charge in September. Judge Don Johnson sentenced him to six months in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, which were suspended, and he was placed on probation.

Bruce Salisbury was living with his father before the incident. Family says that Larry Salisbury had asked for the protective order to be rescinded and Bruce moved back into the home.

A letter from his probation officer filed on Tuesday morning said that Bruce Salisbury never arrived to the probation and parole office and they could not locate him.

Sources say Bruce Salisbury will be charged with murder in his father's death.

This is a developing story.
