Tangipahoa Parish hosting waterway clean-up event at end of September
MANCHAC — The Tangipahoa Parish government is hosting a Love Our Waterways cleanup in Manchac on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The event, which will run from 8 a.m. to noon, is part of Keep Louisiana Beautiful, which is designed to protect wildlife habitats, improve water quality, reduce litter and preserve the Louisiana environment and shorelines. More than 260 cleanup events have been registered statewide as part of the September initiative to encourage residents, organizations and groups to take an active role in improving and protecting Louisiana’s waterways.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller is spearheading the “South Pass Clean Up,” and co-sponsors include Keep Louisiana Beautiful and the Manchac Boating Association.
“It's been a busy summer on the waterways, and we want to do our part to remove trash and debris from South Pass and surrounding areas," Miller said.
