LOS ANGELES — Voice actor Peter Cullen, the longtime voice of Optimus Prime in "Transformers" and Eeyore in "Winnie the Pooh," has died, his agent said Thursday. He was 85. 

Cullen died in his Los Angeles home, multiple news outlets report.

"Peter himself was someone people could look up to. His kindness, humility, compassion, and wisdom resonated far beyond the characters he portrayed. Whether through his performances, his words, or the stories he shared with fans, he had a way of reminding people that true strength could exist alongside gentleness and kindness," a social media post announcing his passing read.

Cullen was best known for playing Optimus Prime in the 1980s "Transformers" series, as well as reprising the character in the live-action films by Michael Bay. 

The prolific voice actor also provided the voice for KARR in "Knight Rider," the vocalizations of the titular "Predator" and, more recently, voiced Thaedus in the Amazon Prime series "Invincible." Cullen has more than 200 acting credits spanning more than 50 years.
