BATON ROUGE - Despite a highly publicized visit to LSU and the best efforts of Ed Orgeron, Buford, Ga., five-star defensive lineman Jalen Brewster, the No. 1-ranked high school player in the nation for the class of 2027, will honor his commitment to Texas Tech and is shutting down his recruitment, according to reporting by On3.

The highly-touted high schooler had been committed to the Red Raiders since Oct. 4, 2025, and had been on multiple visits to other schools since, including those he chronicled on his own YouTube channel. In his video following his visit to LSU, Brewster showed himself in LSU's facilities with Orgeron, Lane Kiffin, and others.

Despite missing out on Brewster, LSU apparently remains in the mix for five-star wide receiver and Louisiana native Easton Royal. Rivals' Steve Wiltfong predicted the University of Texas commit to flip to LSU back in July.
