Gonzales office of Gautier Amedee struck by lightning; GFD says firm will be out of office 'for a while'
GONZALES — The Gonzales office of Gautier Amedee Injury Lawyers was struck by lightning Monday evening, causing an attic fire that firefighters quickly put out.
Gonzales Fire officials learned about the strike around 6 p.m. and quickly responded to the South Burnside Avenue office. Within 30 minutes, the fire was contained.
The damage was limited to the attic, with minor smoke and water damage throughout the entire building. Despite the relatively minor damage, Gonzales Fire Chief Preston Landry said Tuesday that the law firm would not be in the building "for a while" as repairs are made.
