GONZALES — The Gonzales City Council approved a pay raise for councilmembers.

The raise moves their monthly pay from $1,000 to $1,600.

An additional $750 uniform allowance was originally planned alongside the raise, but the council could not approve it because the item was not presented to the public with the allowance attached during the previous meeting.

The council plans to reintroduce the allowance during a later meeting.
