DENHAM SPRINGS — The Denham Springs Police Department is investigating a series of threatening emails addressed to several members of the Denham Springs City Council.

The Denham Springs Police Department confirmed the investigation on Friday.

According to the department, on Sept. 2, officers were dispatched to Denham Springs City Hall in reference to threatening emails received by a city employee.

Officers said the emails were sent by an unknown individual and contained threats concerning the employee's job following the new mayor taking office. During the investigation, officers learned that another city official also received similar emails from the same email address.

The Denham Springs Police Department is actively investigating the incident in coordination with federal authorities, as the emails originated from an email service outside of the United States.

The investigation remains ongoing.

WBRZ has also reached out to Denham Springs officials for more information.
