BATON ROUGE - The Woodlawn Panthers hosted the Liberty Patriots for a District 4-5A matchup Friday night. It was also the Panthers' homecoming game.

Woodlawn struck first when quarterback Ricky Mitchell's pass was deflected but then caught in the endzone by Omar Morehouse. The Panthers led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Liberty found an answer when safety Bryson Moses picked off Mitchell on Woodlawn's next possession. He got the Patriots in plus territory, and Abednego Stephens put points on the board with a short touchdown run.

Woodlawn wouldn't find the endzone again until late in the second quarter when Christopher Williams scored to make it 13-6.

Woodlawn's offense turned up the heat. They beat the Patriots 46-14 for a district win.
