BATON ROUGE — The Capital Area Transit System has launched a new contactless payment app. 

Geaux Pass Mobile will replace the UMO app, and riders can choose to pay with the Geaux Pass Mobile app or with a physical Geaux Pass card. Riders who prefer a physical card can pick one up at the CATS terminals at 2250 Florida Blvd. 

Nothing else has changed about the farebox and cash is still accepted, CATS notes.

"Geaux Pass Mobile makes paying your fare as easy as a tap," CATS Chief Executive Officer Theo Richards said. "Whether you use the app on your phone or a Geaux Pass card, you've got a fast, contactless way to ride — and we're encouraging everyone who hasn't made the switch yet to sign up today."
