PORT ALLEN — The Port Allen Police Department is investigating an early Sunday morning shooting that left one person injured.

According to the department, the shooting occurred around 5 a.m. on Azalea Street.

While investigating, officers located the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on La. 1 South. The victim was later transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. 

Following the investigation, officers said five suspects were arrested and charged. 

The Addis Police Department, along with the Brusly Police Department and the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, assisted with the investigation.
