Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine receives preliminary accreditation

NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University's Oschner College of Medicine received preliminary accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), the accrediting body for U.S. programs granting medical doctorate degrees.
With the accreditation, Xavier becomes the only HBCU in the Gulf South with a college of medicine.
After earning the accreditation, the College of Medicine will begin recruiting students in coming weeks for its inaugural class starting in 2027.
