TANGIPAHOA PARISH — Mosquito samples in the Tangipahoa Parish Mosquito Abatement District have tested positive for West Nile Virus this week.

Eighteen samples came back positive and additional treatments will be performed in the most affected areas.

So far this year, 82 of the 1,557 samples tested in the district have returned positive for West Nile Virus. No human cases have been reported in the district this year.

Officials are asking residents to use basic defense methods to help protect against the spread of disease.
