MORGAN CITY - J.S. Aucoin Elementary was on lockdown due to shots being fired nearby, St. Mary Parish deputies told WBRZ.

Deputies said that the school was under lockdown on Tuesday afternoon. Officials added they believed the school to be "safe" and that extra security was called in to assist.

On Wednesday morning, deputies said that no arrests would be made in the incident.

"It was all clear and no threat to public safety," a sheriff's office spokesperson said.
