BATON ROUGE — More than half the state was left underwater after unprecedented rainfall caused waterways to flood much of the Capital Area on Aug. 13, 2016.

Held as the worst natural disaster in the United States since Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the 2016 flood killed over a dozen people and left tens of thousands of homes and businesses underwater.
