BATON ROUGE — The Disaster Recovery Center in Pointe Coupee Parish, opened this summer following Tropical Storm Arthur, will permanently close on Thursday.

Residents in Avoyelles, Lafourche, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry, St. Tammany and Terrebonne parishes can still apply for FEMA disaster assistance through Oct. 1 to receive help from Tropical Storm Author.

If residents need one-on-one help, the Terrebonne Parish Library will be available Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm.

FEMA advises that residents do not need to visit a disaster center for assistance, and the quickest way to apply is online.

Residents can also call the FEMA help line at 800-621-3362 or download the FEMA app
