DENHAM SPRINGS - Livingston Parish Randy Delatte took to social media to apologize to residents, saying that people aligned with his administration made anonymous online posts attacking other elected officials. 

"That is wrong. I do not condone it, I apologize for it, and I will take the necessary steps to address it," Delatte said. 

He also apologized to any elected official who was the subject of an attack. 

"Political disagreements are part of public service. Personal attacks should never be," he said. "We may disagree, sometimes strongly, but I know the men and women serving this parish are dedicated and work hard for the citizens they represent."

I want to begin with a direct apology to the people of Livingston Parish.

I am sorry for the current political climate in our parish, and as Parish President, I accept responsibility for my part in allowing it to get to this point.

It has been brought to my attention that people aligned with my administration have made social media posts under anonymous names attacking fellow elected officials. That is wrong. I do not condone it, I apologize for it, and I will take the necessary steps to address it.

I also want to apologize to any elected official, citizen, or family member who has been personally attacked or unfairly targeted. Political disagreements are part of public service. Personal attacks should never be.
Every elected official in Livingston Parish was chosen by the people and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. We may disagree, sometimes strongly, but I know the men and women serving this parish are dedicated and work hard for the citizens they represent.

I will take ownership of helping change the tone.

With the help of the Parish Council and our other elected officials, I want us to lead with dignity, purpose, integrity, and, most importantly, respect.

Our citizens demand that of us, and they deserve nothing less.

We accomplish far more when we work together than when we tear one another down. Livingston Parish has too much going for it and too much work ahead of us to allow political division and personal attacks to stand in the way.
