HAMMOND — Hammond Police are investigating a vehicle burglary that happened at the North Oaks Medical Center.

Around 10 p.m. on Oct. 20, two people entered the North Oaks parking garage on foot from Veterans Avenue

Hospital surveillance footage showed the suspects walking through the area looking at multiple vehicles. Police added that the suspects exited the parking garage and went up to a vehicle parked in a nearby parking lot, breaking the rear passenger window and entering the vehicle.

The pair stayed in the vehicle for several minutes. According to police, they damaged the ignition in an attempt to steal the vehicle. They then gave up and left the area on foot, last seen walking southbound on Veterans Avenue.

Detectives believe the same suspects may be responsible for additional vehicle burglaries in the area.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Randall Baudier with the Hammond Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 985-277-5740 or baudier_rf@hammond.org.
