BATON ROUGE — A groundbreaking ceremony was held Friday for a new sidewalk project along Glasgow Avenue.

The project will add 4,000 feet of sidewalks on both sides of the street along with new crosswalks and handicap ramps. Crews will also improve drainage by filling in roadside ditches and installing underground piping.

Officials say the improvements are designed to make the area safer for pedestrians, students and library visitors.
