LIVINGSTON — Almost four months after the death of crossing guard Katy Wells, a new school zone speed limit is in effect around Gray's Creek Elementary School.

The 45-mph speed limit has been reduced to 35-mph. Officials said the new signs were installed Monday and the new speed limit is in effect.

State Rep. Roger Wilder said the new speed limit is a result of collaboration between Livingston Legislative Delegation, local leaders, DOTD and the Livingston Parish School System.

On Monday, Livingston Parish School honored Wells by revealing a new mural in her honor.
