LIVINGSTON - A deadly crash involving three vehicles took one person's life and resulted in a car fire Monday night.

Police say the tragic wreck occurred on Magnolia Bridge Road near Greenwell Springs Road and led to the death of 46-year-old Clayton Smith.

The crash took place when Smith was headed east on Magnolia Beach Road as a Ford F-250 was traveling west on the same road.

Authorities say, for reasons that are still under investigation, Smith crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the Ford.

Shortly after the impact, Smith's BMW burst into flames.

Smith was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The driver of the Ford sustained moderate injuries, police say.

The crash remains under investigation.
