BATON ROUGE — The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 – Oct. 15) with a series of student and family events across district campuses.

Aligning with this year's national theme, "Unidos, Somos Más", which translates to "Together, We Are More", the month-long observance highlights the rich cultures, histories and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.

"These celebrations give our students an opportunity to share their cultures, learn from one another and recognize the many contributions of the Hispanic and Latino communities," Cesar Rico said, who serves as executive director of EBR Schools' English as a Second Language Department.

Upcoming district events include:

- Sept. 30 (9–10 a.m.): Audubon Elementary School

- Oct. 2 (8–9 a.m.): Glen Oaks Park Elementary School

- Oct. 6 (9–10 a.m.): Riveroaks Elementary School

- Oct. 7 (1–2 p.m.): Broadmoor High School

- Oct. 16 (9:30–10:30 a.m.): Jefferson Terrace Academy

- Oct. 16 (2:30–3:30 p.m.): Belaire High School
