BRPD officer investigated for several incidents during tenure arrested again on gun theft charges
BATON ROUGE — A Baton Rouge Police officer already investigated five separate times during his tenure at the department has been arrested again, this time accused of stealing a gun.
Stefan Jones, 32, was arrested Wednesday on theft of a firearm and malfeasance in office charges.
WBRZ has asked authorities for more information about Jones' arrest.
Jones was most recently arrested for a December 2025 incident where he allegedly groped a gas station employee. Jones was placed on leave following this incident.
He was also suspended in 2019 after pulling his taser at Tigerland to disperse a crowd after bars closed. In 2021, Jones admitted to falsifying military orders to take time off while Hurricane Ida approached. In 2022, he damaged an air-conditioning unit at a body shop before driving off. In 2025, Jones hit someone on a bicycle while driving to a call.
