BATON ROUGE — One person was transported to the hospital following a Saturday night house fire on Blendon Avenue, according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Crews arrived around 11 p.m. to find the home engulfed in flames with two people standing outside the residence, fire officials said.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames while other crews protected nearby homes.

While firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to neighboring homes, the house was considered a total loss.

One resident was transported to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
