Woman dies in hospital after falling from balcony along Ben Hur Road, BRPD says

BATON ROUGE — A woman died after falling from a balcony along Ben Hur Road, Baton Rouge Police said.
The woman, identified as 26-year-old Taylor Ganey, fell from the balcony around 8 p.m. on Monday. Ganey was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
Ganey was a lieutenant and worked on the security team at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, the Louisiana Department of Corrections said, issuing the following statement:
"The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections is mourning the loss of Lieutenant Taylor Ganey, a dedicated member of the Security Team at the Louisiana State Penitentiary since February 10, 2020. Lt. Ganey’s positivity, professionalism, and camaraderie left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of working alongside her. Her absence will be deeply felt throughout the Department, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time."
As the circumstances surrounding Lt. Ganey’s untimely death remain under investigation, the Department has no further comment at this time.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office said the cause and manner of Ganey's death are currently under investigation.
