GONZALES — A Washington man accused of killing two people after crashing into a Gonzales Police unit while driving high in February has been arrested.
Louis Dartez, 35, was allegedly driving along I-10 westbound while high on MDMA on Feb. 1 with three other people, two of whom, 32-year-olds Jose Luis Martinez II and Ashley Garza, later died at the hospital.
Louisiana State Police said the crash happened when a Toyota RAV4 driving west in the left lane struck a marked, but unoccupied, Gonzales Police Department unit in the left lane with its emergency lights on. GPD officers were investigating a separate crash at the time.
On Wednesday, Dartez was arrested on two counts of vehicular homicide while driving under the influence.
