The Storm Station continues to follow two major stories: morning fog and an upcoming cold front. One will complicate the morning drive, whereas the other will deliver a refreshing cooldown just in time for the weekend.

Tonight & Tomorrow: Another night with mainly clear skies and calming winds will allow for areas of fog to develop as dawn approaches. Like recent days, it could be dense in a few spots, especially in low-lying areas or near bodies of water. When driving through fog, remember to use low-beam headlights and try to increase following distance. Temperature-wise, Thursday will start off in the mid-60s.

Fog will quickly lift from the ground after sunrise, and sunshine will gradually poke through. The afternoon brings a mainly sunny sky with highs reaching the low 90s once again.

Up Next: Though patchy fog remains possible early Friday, passing high clouds might act as an insulator and prevent the widespread cooling required for thicker fog development. Friday will be a day of change as a strong cold front barrels into the region. Afternoon highs will still reach the low 90s, but temperatures will quickly drop as a breezy northwest wind takes over late in the day. The frontal passage will be largely dry, with nothing more than a spotty shower or two.

Expect a much cooler start to Saturday in the mid-50s, with temperatures only rebounding to the 70s by afternoon. Fans can look forward to an amazing feel at homecoming on LSU’s campus Saturday as the Tigers prepare to play host to Mississippi State. The air will feel crisp, and the breeze won’t let up. Low humidity, combined with the wind, will make lip balm a necessity. Such conditions will also raise fire weather concerns. Please exercise caution with outdoor grills and open flames, as any sparks could quickly lead to rapid fire spread. Sunday morning will be the week's coolest point, with lows in the upper 40s to low 50s. A gradual warming trend takes over after that.
