Drier and more comfortable air is pushing into the Capital Area. Though still hot, the feels-like temperatures will be 10 degrees lower than earlier in the week, setting up the first small taste of fall into the weekend.

Tonight and Tomorrow: Expect a refreshing dip in humidity tonight as drier air filters across the region. Along with clear skies, low temperatures will drop into the upper 60s for the first time since early June. Friday will bring a lot of sunshine thanks to dry air in the atmosphere. That same dry air will allow for a hot but less humid afternoon as high temperatures top out in the mid 90s. Expect relatively pleasant and cooperative weather for the Friday Night Blitz though still warm, it will not be as sticky as the first two weeks.

Up Next: Saturday morning will mark a second straight in the upper 60s followed by a mostly sunny afternoon in the mid 90s. While hot for tailgating, conditions will temper a bit for kickoff between Louisiana Christian and the Southern Jaguars. Expect evening temperatures to be falling through the 80s into the 70s.

In Oxford, the LSU Tigers are set to take on the Ole Miss Rebels in what could be one of the hottest road games the team has ever played. The Storm Station crunched the blistering numbers in the LSU Kickoff Weather Index. 

Some moisture will creep back into the atmosphere by Sunday. This means not only will our mini taste of fall relief start to fade, but daytime warming will again be able to pop isolated showers and thunderstorms. Rain coverage will stay on the lower end into early next week, never really exceeding 20 - 30 percent any one day. Both high and low temperatures will be a few degrees above average in the low 90s and low 70s, respectively. Tuesday marks the official beginning of astronomical fall. There are signs of another possible humidity dip later next week.

The Tropics: The Caribbean and Gulf will remain quiet over the next 7 days. Elsewhere, an area of low pressure located several hundred miles east of Bermuda has been designated as Invest AL98. Any showers and thunderstorms have become less organized, and environmental conditions only warrant about a thirty percent chance of development as the system drifts slowly southwestward over the open waters of the Central Subtropical Atlantic. This disturbance remains thousands of miles away from the United States coastline and poses no threat to the Gulf Coast.
