Thrive Academy launches Bulldog Society to fund student support
BATON ROUGE — Thrive Foundation today announced the launch of the Bulldog Society, a new giving initiative for students at Thrive Academy.
The announcement came as Thrive Academy marked 15 years of serving vulnerable students in Louisiana.
The foundation wants 50 founding members to commit $2,011 a year for 3 years. Those commitments would give the foundation unrestricted support for students' academic, residential and enrichment needs.
In recent years, the foundation has used philanthropic support for an annual trip to Washington, D.C. for juniors, off-campus driving instruction and swim lessons. Organizers hope to add college tours for sophomores.
The school's model combines academics, residential support, life skill development and enrichment opportunities. Students facing economic hardship, housing instability or other challenges outside the classroom often need more than traditional instruction to succeed.
