LAPLACE — A box truck drove off the Bonnet Carre Spillway near LaPlace on Thursday morning, shutting down the two left lanes going eastbound as crews work to recover it. 

The crash happened near mile marker 210 and was first reported at 11:19 a.m.

The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital in New Orleans, officials said. 

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash.
