Woman identified, arrested for shooting boyfriend in hotel room off Airline Highway Monday
BATON ROUGE - Police have arrested and identified the woman responsible for shooting her boyfriend at a hotel early Monday morning.
Mykayla Alicia Haynes, 25, is behind bars after police say she pointed a gun at her boyfriend and pulled the trigger three to four times.
Authorities responded to reports of a shooting around 10:45 a.m. Monday at the Oyo Hotel, which is located at 99999 Gwenadele Ave. in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Police say the victim reported the pair were arguing over the mother of his child before Haynes pulled the trigger. He also told authorities that Haynes threatened to kill both him and his child's mother.
According to Haynes, the victim threatened her with a handgun and says she shot him when he turned around and fled the scene.
After reviewing cellphone video taken during the argument, as well as surveillance video from the hotel, Haynes was arrested and booked on for attempted first-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
