BATON ROUGE - The Southeastern Conference issued a statement Thursday saying that a meeting was held to "discuss recent matters involving conference expectations and responsibilities."

According to a federal lawsuit, the meeting was initially scheduled to "decide whether to terminate" LSU's conference membership. However, that court hearing was continued and LSU's potential expulsion was not an item on the agenda.

This comes after LSU did not add former Cleveland Brown Dae'Quan Wright, former New Orleans Saint Zxavian Harris and former Denver Bronco Blake Cotton to its roster.

ESPN reported that LSU president Wade Rousse joined the SEC presidents and chancellors call today, but only briefly. He explained to the participants that in light of the pending federal litigation, of which he and LSU are named defendants, that he was advised by counsel not to participate.

The SEC said that the "discussions will continue as the conference and its member universities work toward an appropriate resolution."
