NEW YORK - It was by no means pretty, but the New Orleans Saints survived a spirited comeback attempt from the New York Giants and escaped New York to end their three-game losing streak with a 34-27 win.

The game began as a now typical slow start for the Saints, with another scoreless first quarter. Yet at the end of the first half, the game was knotted in a 10-10 tie. Once again, New Orleans put it all together after the first 15 minutes and ended up scoring 34 unanswered points.

The Saints led 34-10 with 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter, and after a JJ McCarthy interception, the game seemed to be over.

But two plays later, CJ Donaldson fumbled the football.

After that, the Giants scored 17 unanswered points to make it a one possession game just before the two-minute warning. McCarthy, who had come in for the Giants in the fourth quarter following Jameis Winston's second interception of the day, was leading solid drives for New York.

The Giants made it all the way to the Saints' 14-yard line in the final seconds of the game with a shot to tie the game, but a McCarthy pass sailed out of the reach of New York tight end Isaiah Likely.

Longtime Saints running back Alvin Kamara ended up joining an exclusive club in the win. On his 31-yard receiving touchdown in the third quarter, Kamara became the sixth player in NFL history to reach 5,000 rushing yards and 5,000 receiving yards.

The win makes the Saints 2-4 after a dreadful three-game losing streak, with all three losses coming at the Superdome. The Saints' next game is out in Paris, France, against the Pittsburgh Steelers on October 25.
