BATON ROUGE - A 17-year-old and 21-year-old who allegedly kidnapped two people and tried to rob one of them were arrested by East Baton Rouge Sheriff's deputies on Tuesday.

According to an affidavit, Timothy Harris Jr., 17, and Jacorey Cossett, 21, worked together on Aug. 9 to rob a woman and kidnap a man.

Documents say that the woman went with the man to a home on Corlett Drive. He waited in the car while she walked inside to find the home empty, and Harris hiding behind a door with a gun. He reportedly racked his gun, pointed it at her and both Harris and Cossett started demanding money.

She said that because she doesn't carry cash, Harris walked her to an ATM at a gas station across the street. While she was trying to make a withdrawal, she mistyped the PIN and her card was locked.

The affidavit says the woman, man, Harris, and Cossett got in one vehicle and went to her home to get the correct PIN. The woman said that both Harris and Cossett had their weapons out during the ride. She told officers that the men said she was "'playing games' and they might as well 'smoke them.'" The woman said her family members were home and she told her sister to call law enforcement.

Deputies found the four at a gas station on Hooper Road. A report says the deputy spoke with everyone involved, couldn't make sense of their stories, and couldn't view the security footage at the time, so he let everyone go without making an arrest.

After watching surveillance video later, the deputy said it was clear Harris was standing next to the woman with his hand inside his coat pocket while she tried to take money out at an ATM.

Harris and Cossett were booked for second-degree kidnapping and attempted armed robbery. Harris was arrested on an additional charge of illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.
