BATON ROUGE — It’s all fun and games until you win a prize.

That’s the idea behind Gotcha Baton Rouge, an arcade where claw machines take center stage.

Unlike a traditional arcade filled with a mix of games, Gotcha features rows of claw machines packed with different prizes. The space itself adds to the experience, with a bright, clean design accented by pink, blue and orange LED lights and colorful animated decor.

“It’s decorated definitely colorful for kids I would say and there’s a bunch of animated stuff. Pink, blue, orange,” said Abigail Duhon, manager at Gotcha Baton Rouge.

Players can choose from machines with different difficulty levels. Stickers on each machine indicate how challenging the game is before players decide where to try their luck.

“We do have harder ones but each machine has a sticker to tell you how difficult it is,” Duhon said.

The prizes also work differently than they do at a typical arcade.

Instead of collecting tickets, players can trade in stuffed animals they win for chips. Those chips can then be used toward some of the arcade’s larger prizes.

“Instead of regular tickets you can trade in whatever stuffed animals you get to get chips to get some of our bigger prizes,” Duhon said.

While claw machines may be a childhood favorite, Duhon said the arcade draws older kids and adults, too.

“I see a lot of older kids and older adults come in and they leave with a big smile on their face with all their stuffed animals,” Duhon said.

For anyone who enjoys the challenge of lining up the claw, timing the drop and hoping for a successful grab, Gotcha Baton Rouge offers an arcade experience centered around one game and plenty of chances to try again.
