BATON ROUGE — A man was arrested for attempted second-degree murder on Friday after allegedly shooting a person who had entered the wrong house. 

According to the department, on Aug. 14, officers arrived on Gracie Street to find Marty Green Sr., who told officers that he had shot an unknown male after discovering him inside his residence.

Green said that he was awakened by his dog barking around 2:30 a.m. before arming himself with a .45 caliber handgun. While investigating the exterior of his home, Green said he observed an unknown male inside the rear doorway of his residence. 

According to Green, the male repeatedly told him that he was at the wrong house before Green allegedly fired his weapon. 

Officers later interviewed the male at the hospital, where he told officers he was attempting to meet with a female who had directed him to the location without providing a numerical address. After entering Green's residence, he realized he was at the wrong location and allegedly attempted to explain the misunderstanding to Green as the female was guiding him to her residence via a FaceTime call.

According to the male, Green attempted to fire, manipulated the handgun after it failed to discharge and then fired one round, striking him in the abdomen. 

Detectives also interviewed the woman who was on the video call, who confirmed the male's statements. Video surveillance also captured the interaction between Green and the male. 

On Friday, Green was arrested for attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of weapons.
