BATON ROUGE - Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers found their groove on offense in the second half against Louisiana Tech on Saturday night in Death Valley.

After going three-and-out on their opening possession, quarterback Sam Leavitt drove LSU inside the Louisiana Tech 10-yard line on the Tigers' second possession. LSU was forced to settle for three, with placekicker Scott Starzyk connecting on a 29-yard field goal to give the Tigers an early 3-0 lead.

Louisiana Tech went three-and-out on the ensuing drive, and LSU's Eugene Wilson III returned the punt 27 yards to the Tech 44-yard line to give the Tigers great field position.

On the first play from scrimmage, receiver Jackson Harris hauled in a 42-yard pass from Leavitt to set LSU up inside the two-yard line. Two plays later, Leavitt finished off the drive with a rushing touchdown to give the Tigers a 10-0 lead in the first quarter.

Early in the second quarter, LSU fumbled, setting Louisiana Tech up in Tiger territory following the return. However, the LSU defense came up with a big stop, forcing the Bulldogs to attempt a 54-yard field goal that came up short and kept Louisiana Tech off the scoreboard. 

The Bulldogs came away with another takeaway shortly after when Leavitt was intercepted, but the LSU defense responded by forcing a three-and-out to quickly give the Tigers the ball back. 

With less than two minutes remaining in the first half, Leavitt was intercepted for the second time, but this time Louisiana Tech returned the pick 100 yards for a touchdown to get on the board and cut LSU's lead to 10-7.

LSU quickly moved back down the field, but Leavitt was intercepted once again, this time at the Louisiana Tech 5-yard line, ending the Tigers' scoring threat and sending LSU into halftime with a 10-7 lead.

In the third quarter, LSU added a field goal before putting together a six-play, 60-yard drive capped by a 9-yard rushing touchdown from Sam Leavitt. The Tigers converted the ensuing two-point attempt before adding another field goal later in the quarter to take a 24-7 lead into the fourth.

Near the start of the fourth quarter, Leavitt picked up his third rushing touchdown of the night on a 5-yard run to extend LSU’s lead to 31-7.

The second half scoring continued on the Tigers' ensuing drive as Leavitt found tight end Trey'Dez Green on a 10-yard reception for a touchdown to put LSU ahead 38-7.
