BATON ROUGE — A federal judge on Thursday dismissed most of a lawsuit filed against three fired Baton Rouge Police officers and the city-parish tied to the department's BRAVE Cave operated by the now-disbanded BRPD Street Crimes Unit. 

Jeremy Lee's lawsuit against the officers and the city says that, when he was arrested in 2023, officers kicked, punched and strip-searched him in a warehouse, and that he was hurt so badly that the parish prison wouldn't accept him unless he had treatment first at a hospital.

The city's lawyers say that body camera footage of Lee shows that he had "no outward signs, signals, expressions, or direct verbal indicators of any pains, injury or the like" hours after being detained outside a suspected "drug house" on Cadillac Street.

On Thursday, Judge Shelly Dick dismissed all of Lee's claims against officers Matthew Wallace and Joseph Carboni.

Dick's ruling also says some of the allegations against now-former Officer Troy Lawrence Jr., including ones of assault and battery, will stand, noting that the motion to dismiss these was denied.

Dick ruled that officers had probable cause to arrest Lee, as well as probable cause to search him for weapons or drugs.
