JACKSON — A master sergeant at Dixon Correctional Institute has been arrested after investigators say video footage showed him touching an inmate inappropriately and paying him with snacks.

According to arrest documents, investigators at Dixon Correctional received a tip from a confidential inmate source that Master Sgt. Jermaine Granger was involved in a personal relationship with an inmate.

Investigators pulled and reviewed footage from inside the prison that shows Granger reaching out and rubbing an inmate's groin area. The two then entered a dorm bathroom, which is off-limits to inmates and stayed inside for less than 30 seconds.

Investigators believe Granger paid the inmate for letting him touch him — not with money, but with Skittles and a honey bun.

Attorney Donna Grodner, who is representing a different Dixon inmate, said Granger should have already been on investigators' radars. She read from a letter her client wrote her.

"I reported him on the PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) hotline that has record and proof and had they followed policy, this last victim would have been avoided," the letter said.

The inmate claims Granger also sexually assaulted him.

"Back in July of 2025, he reported to Warden Bickham, Warden Carroway and Warden Haley that an officer Jeremaine Granger was bringing him in to the restroom and performing oral sex on him," Grodner said. "He did it two different times."

When questioned by investigators about the most recent incident, Granger initially denied touching the inmate inappropriately or giving him food until investigators showed him the video footage.

He was arrested on July 26 and stayed in East Feliciana Parish Jail until Aug. 19, when he made his $65,000 bond. The Department of Corrections said Granger is no longer employed with them.
