DENHAM SPRINGS — A crossing guard died after being struck by a vehicle at a Denham Springs elementary school on Thursday afternoon, according to authorities. 

The crash happened outside Gray's Creek Elementary around 4:20 p.m., emergency officials told WBRZ. 

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office is on scene and asks drivers to avoid the area.
