Child injured after gaining access to weapon inside glove compartment near North Street
BATON ROUGE — A child sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Friday near North Street, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.
Officers said the incident occurred after the child gained access to a weapon that was located in the glove compartment of a vehicle. The child was left with a non-life-threatening injury to the hand.
While no charges have been filed, the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services is investigating the incident.
