13 people taken to hospital after vehicle hits New Iberia parade participants
BROUSSARD - 13 people were taken to the hospital after a vehicle hit parade participants in New Iberia, Acadian Ambulance said.
According to Acadian on social media, emergency officials initially responded around 2:36 p.m. with seven ambulances and one Air Med helicopter. Three more ambulances and an additional helicopter are being sent.
Acadian said 11 people were taken by ground and two were taken by air. The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office said the incident "does not appear to be an intentional act." The driver is in custody.

The incident took place at the Louisiana Lao New Year Celebration at the corner of Savannakhet and Melancon Road in Broussard.
The festival issued a statement saying they are awaiting additional details. Tonight's festival music programs will be canceled, but vendors will remain open until 9 p.m.

"As of now, and if security resources are restored for tomorrow (Sunday) we will reopen only the religious services of the festival, and vendors will stay open," the festival said.
