In 1982 I was given a live-shot assignment to cover a St. Pat’s Parade downtown. After the parade, then Mayor-President Pat Screen suggested that I further this parade so here we are after 27 years.  Rewind to 1986 when my brother Kevin and I kicked it off as a “rain or shine” event. I remember 2009 and parade weather that included: clouds, intermittent rain and 60 degrees.  Our Irish Grand Marshals said it felt like their hometown - Killarney. My greatest weather parade memory was 1993. My brother Denis and I were enjoying Giamanco’s oysters as snowflakes fell the night before the parade. The Luck O' The Irish was not evident on March 17, 1997 on Massachusetts' Nantucket Island. Arctic air moved over warm ocean water and put eight inches of snow on the Island. In Venice, Florida on March 17, 1985, a tornado carried a water cooler from a nearby store through the wall of a house three blocks away. Better luck the day after St. Pat's Day in 1973 in Corey, LA. A baby was carried 400 yards from tornadic winds and survived. St. Patrick's Day, 1990, after sixteen inches of rain in southern Alabama a levee broke in Elba, AL, as twelve feet of water covered the city.
