Father, son fishing in Lake Pontchartrain found dead
NEW ORLEANS - A father and son were found dead in Lake Pontchartrain after the two went out on their boat to go fishing Saturday.
According to WWL-TV, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said LDWF agents, New Orleans Police officers and the US Coast Guard were dispatched to Lake Pontchartrain to search for 87-year-old Levi Slaughter Jr. and 62-year-old Levi Slaughter III. The boat was found unmanned Saturday afternoon after the father and son left to go fishing around 8:00 a.m. that morning.
First responders discovered their bodies near the unmanned vessel around 8:15 p.m. Saturday, according to WWL-TV.
"It is unknown at this time what caused the men to enter the water," the LDWF said in a statement.

Both men were reportedly not wearing life vests when they were found. Their deaths remain under investigation.
