BATON ROUGE - Janathean Lamar Duncan was arrested Wednesday afternoon after fleeing police and crashing his vehicle on I-10.

Troopers were first seen blocking off the on-ramp to I-10 West at Highland shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. DOTD traffic cameras showed a swarm of state police vehicles parked near the ramp, lining the westbound lanes.

The U.S. Marshals Service said Duncan, 22 years old, was wanted in Nebraska for making terroristic threats. Marshals alerted local law enforcement after learning Duncan was in the New Orleans area and was expected to pass through Baton Rouge.

A state police spokesperson said the chase began in Ascension Parish after troopers spotted the suspect's vehicle. He fled a traffic stop but soon crashed in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Duncan was taken to a hospital and held on a fugitive warrant.

Police say Duncan has been booked into the Ascension Parish Jail and charged with simple criminal damage to property, possession of or dealing in firearms with obliterated number or mark, possession of firearm by person convicted of certain felonies, battery of a police officer, resisting an officer, and aggravated flight from an officer.
