BATON ROUGE – A Texas man was found shot to death Wednesday morning, police revealed in a news release.

According to BRPD, Brian Allen Cook was found in an abandoned house at 2526 Dayton Street around 11:50. Dayton Street is in north Baton Rouge sandwiched between the refinery and Plank Road.

Friends and family say Cook worked for Siemens Energy and traveled to Baton Rouge from his hometown of Kyle, Texas on Nov. 24 for a work project. Cook was free to return home after the project was completed on Nov. 29, but had not been seen or heard from since then.

On Facebook, Cook's father shared news of his son's death Wednesday afternoon, saying in part, so many questions remain unanswered and that is family is understandably devastated.

Investigators say there are no known suspects or motives at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call (225) 389-4869.

The incident is the second one this week where a shooting victim was found dead in an abandoned house. Sunday, Jordan Spears, 27, died after being shot on Stearns Street near Plank Road.

Since the killing started Sunday, Baton Rouge Police have responded to four suspicious cases where people have been found dead. East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s deputies are also investigating a suspicious death after a person was found dead and wrapped in a tarp near Millerville Tuesday.

The string of crime comes less than three weeks after a violent crime wave and police increasing patrols in dangerous neighborhoods.

“...Y'all have our undivided attention," Chief Deputy Robert McGarner warned to criminals in a made-for-TV message during a live news conference after days of violence in mid-November.
