Angola guard arrested with meth, larger investigation underway
WEST FELICIANA PARISH - A corrections officer at the state penitentiary in Angola has been arrested in what sources described to WBRZ as a larger investigation.
WBRZ's Chief Investigator Chris Nakamoto was told the officer was stopped at the front gate of the prison and her arrest involved drugs.
Records obtained by the WBRZ Investigative Unit show the corrections officer, identified as Keisarah McGee, was booked into jail on malfeasance in office and possession with intent to distribute meth. State Corrections officials later confirmed investigators found 6.11 ounces of crystal meth inside her vehicle during a routine shakedown.
Additionally, the Department of Corrections confirmed multiple agencies were involved in the investigation, including the FBI.
In a bizarre twist, WBRZ also learned a high-ranking security official at the prison abruptly retired this week.
Watch Chris Nakamoto's reports starting at 4 o'clock Wednesday.
